The phrase "melodic crust punk" might illicit a strange response in many of you. For some it might conjure an automatic negative one. When I say that the melody actually comes from the vocals, it might draw an indistinguishable gasp of puzzlement. Quarantine were a Scottish band that did this, and did it right. Catchy, political, and powerful, this band pulled off beautifully what few bands ever attempted. Disaffect meets Crimpshrine? Leatherface meets Pink Turds In Space? You decide. This band ruled, and you'll probably like them.
The "Automatic Negative Thoughts" LP (Nabat Recs.) has been posted elsewhere before, I think, but I ripped my copy at 320 in case you need it, as well as the excellent "Junction 10" 7" (Panoptic Vision, etc. Recs.)....

Such a great and underrated band! I remember trying to get all my friends to buy the lp as our local record store had oodles of copies. No one ever bought them, and there they probably still sit.
Since these records came out, I swear I've listened to Boxers and Cords and Harmless more than any other songs I own. It's nice finally have some high quality mp3s of them.

this genre is not my cup of tea but these guys are really nice, catchy punky hardcore at its finest. i prefer the 12" :)

Billy- Yes, Quarantine's hard not to resist. Those loud guitars and raspy vocals... even the crusties can get down. I love the 12", but I feel like even the four best songs together are not QUITE as good as the 7". Agree to disagree... thanks for taking the time to comment!

Nice, thanx fo this band. Im getting more stuff about my own scene from people in america haha. I know there other bands though and played with some but never heard of them and im shocked to hear they sound like Crimpshrine and stuff thanx

oh shit, this is really great! years back when i heard their demo for the first time, i didn't like it, cuz i was expecting another disaffect. but after some time it grew on me, and i learned to love this band. didn't hear the "junction 10" 7" until now, so i enjoy it pretty much. i also didn't have decent quality mp3s of the lp. thanks a heap, mate!! this band was really unique - rough and abrasive, but melodic at the same time. i also really like their lyrics... debris were also good, but neil's vocals were nowhere near as great as brian's (i mean for this style - he does really good job in ruin)... still, debris was a good band, and their "attrition" 7" and "ten2" lp are definitely a worthy purchase!
