This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb

Much of the blog folk hibernate during the summer, and who can blame them? I haven't been posting very much either due to some fun and distracting projects. Case in point: I decided to try my hand at bike building. I think it came out pretty damn well. Some Ramen months lay ahead, since the components add up to a minor fortune; but it was worth it for the learning experience and the badass finished product!

In celebration, it's time for another fun summer Song Of The Week. This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb change the term Folk-Punk from derogatory to complimentary. So here's a song from my favorite of their albums, "Front Seat Solidarity," that covers another activity I've been engaged in a little too often lately.

Looks like a very fine ride you put together. I've been plagued with flat tires for the past few years, so I'm saving up for some decent tires for my bike. This Bike is A Pipe bomb are really cool. My upstairs neighbor turned me on to them a couple years ago.

Hey Ry. If your flats are due to external punctures, then yeah you probably should get some tires. But if it's internal, check your rims for sharp stuff and make sure you're filling the tubes to the right PSI. It took me many tubes before I realized how important that was!

I hope the job hunt has been fruitful?!

Yeah, all external punctures. I picked up one super thick walled, gummy tire- used for $2 when one of the bike co-ops was having a clearance sale. My front tire is still some paper-thin generic thing. All external punctures, usually bits of wire from steel belted tire blowouts on the street.
I still haven't come up with any full time work (everyone seems to be firing right now), but I wasn't really looking during school. One hopeful prospect on the horizon for a retail gig (@ Bevmo. Yum.) and the occasional paid writing piece. Having a fine summer anyways.
