A Week of Splits

This seems like a good week to unload some great split EPs on you- each day will bring a new one (ending Saturday). Some super stars you can look forward to hearing include Burst, Disclose, Excruciating Terror, etc. I'm fairly sure these are all out of print, but I can't be sure they haven't been posted elsewhere. Honestly, it's easier just to post something than check all the awesome blogs out there first. So, here is installment #1: They Live and Ruination (Deadalive Records, 1998?). They Live are alumni of the Infest/MITB/Spazz school of ass-pummeling, and Ruination take a more modern approach, resembling the angst-saturated chaos of Born Against, Kitchener, and/or Spacehorse. Both bands dominate (!), so you know what to do...

Hey Pope. Yep, I have some diabolical plans for the blog this week. Lots of wicked stuff in short, loud blasts!

Both bands dominate, is no lie my friend. Damn I wish I would have spent more money on music and less on liquor and dope.

Justin, you sound like the guy who used to run one of the record stores I frequented. I would cringe at the total price of my purchase, and he would comfort me with his own version of comparative drug economics ("If you spent this amount on heroin, you'd blow your purchase in a day, but with records..."). A fallacious choice for comparison, but true enough!

You know I have a decent sized record collection so I'm not complaining, but damn. It's not just the actual objects but the mispent time and energy, which I do make the best of. The friendships, the shows, the experiences that were never developed because I was "elsewhere". I'm starting all over again with blogs like yours.

Yeah, I read that (very riveting!) post on MR a while back about how you abruptly pulled yourself out of that whole situation. Crazy-amazing outcome to that story! But you don't seem like the kind of guy who wallows in regret, so congrats on your new leaf-turning. I'm sure I speak for many when I say we're glad you're here and not "elsewhere"!
